Brian - I certainly noticed that steamy scene - or rather, half scene between Sam Allen and Bessie. The key is the line "It was time to make love." That was the most perfunctory love scene I've ever read. It's almost a shock it wasn't followed by "so that we can get that over with and get on to describing more of the fascinating engineering projects going on in the Mackenzie Delta".
