That thrift store was a gold mine for old bestsellers - Thomas B. Costain, Arthur Hailey, Lloyd C. Douglas - a true embarrassment of riches. Things may have changed in the two decades I've been away. But, hey, it was at that same thrift store that I found my copy, a first edition inscribed by Eric Kierans.
That was back in 1991. Cost me two bucks.
Yes, I keep track of these things.
And I use an American dollar bill as a bookmark.
I'm an eccentric, all right.
